A Baby in Bloom shower built on real flowers — the same blooms on every table and wrapped around the cake, in nude pinks and wildflower colors.

She asked for one thing: a shower she could actually enjoy. So we took a backyard in Reseda, put long tables on the grass under macramé umbrellas, and filled it with the women she loves. Appetizers came round on trays all afternoon, dinner landed family-style on every table, and the games ran long because nobody was in a hurry to leave.

What she asked for

One brief, and it wasn't about the flowers

She asked for stress-free. Not a color, not a Pinterest board. She just didn't want to spend her own shower checking whether the appetizers had gone out or whether table four had drinks.

So we set everything before the first guest arrived, and every question that came up that afternoon came to us instead of to her. She sat down when it started and stayed sat down.

The signature moment

Real flowers, from the tables to the cake

The theme was Baby in Bloom, so we wouldn't fake the flowers. Every centerpiece was fresh: orange and peach roses, lilac, hot pink spray roses, baby's breath, sitting low in gold compotes so nobody had to talk around them.

Then we carried the same flowers onto the cake. Two white tiers with those blooms packed around each one, right down to the sprigs of baby's breath. It read like someone had walked the tables and gathered it up on the way past, and that's the bit guests kept coming back to.
