Santi turns two
A trash-truck second birthday in turquoise and sage, with a cake built to match the show truck right down to its face.
Santi turned two, and there was only ever going to be one theme. He loves the trash truck from his favorite show, so we built the whole thing around it, in soft turquoise, sage, and dusty blue instead of the usual primary brights. Here is how it came together in a Northridge playground.
The signature moment
A cake that drove straight off the screen
Santi is obsessed with the trash truck from his favorite show, so the cake had to be the truck. Not truck-ish. The truck. We set it on a tall white pedestal next to the character cutout so the two sat side by side, and the whole room kept doing a double take at how closely they matched, right down to the little face and the turquoise cab.
Then it did the thing a showpiece cake does not always do. It tasted as good as it looked, and there was none left to pack up at the end.
Why an indoor playground
Somewhere the grown-ups could breathe
The brief that mattered most was not about color or theme. Santi's family wanted a party where the parents could actually sit down, eat something warm, and watch the little ones run without following them across a park.
So we brought the whole trash-truck world into an indoor playground. The kids had a clean, safe space to tear around in, the adults had a calm spot to land, and nobody spent the afternoon chasing a toddler toward a parking lot.
