Welcome baby Camilo
A ducky welcome party for a baby who was already ten weeks old. His grandmother built the backdrop; we brought the vision and styled the table.
Camilo was ten weeks old by the time everyone got to meet him, which turned the shower into a proper welcome party. His grandmother hosted it in her Granada Hills backyard in July, for her son and daughter-in-law and their first baby. She built most of it herself. We gave her the look to build toward, then came on the day to set the table and pull it together.

The signature moment
A backdrop she built herself
Edubi wanted ducks. Splash splash baby, light blue and yellow, and she wanted to make the big piece with her own hands. She did. She cut the arch from wood, painted it soft blue, and had it standing in the living room by the time we arrived.
We brought the decal. Camilo's name in navy script, one fat yellow duck, a few bubbles and two lines of water along the bottom. It took minutes to put on and it finished the whole thing. That backdrop is the part guests kept going back to.
What she asked for
The vision, and one table
Edubi threw this for her son and daughter-in-law, and Camilo is her first grandbaby. She had the house, the food and plenty of hands. What she wanted from us was the vision. Something to aim at, and someone to make the pieces agree with each other on the day.
So we planned the look with her, then came the morning of to style the long table, add the decal, and leave her with notes for the rest. It's a lighter way to work with us, and for a host who wants to build it herself, it's usually the right one.
