Where we celebrate

Calabasas parties, from the yard up

What we do here

Celebrations in Calabasas

Calabasas is a short drive from where we are in the west Valley, and that shows up in small practical ways. Site visits happen sooner. Setup starts when we said it would. Nothing has to come over a canyon in pieces, which means an installation can arrive built rather than assembled on your lawn.

The backyards out here are generous, which is a nice problem to have and still a problem. A big lawn with one table on it reads as empty no matter how well the table is dressed. So we zone it. Somewhere for the food, and somewhere the adults can sit down while the children run themselves out.

Heat is the real constraint, not the wind. West Valley summer afternoons get well past a hundred, and a party with no shade at two o’clock is a party in the kitchen by half past. We plan the shade before we plan a single colour, and on the full-service package we hire it for you.

Most of what is in The Bubbly Files happened a few miles from here, in Woodland Hills, Winnetka and Reseda. Same weather, same logistics, same kind of garden.

What we love to celebrate

Kids’ birthdays are the big one here, and first birthdays especially. Baby showers run a close second.

A styled children’s birthday party

Kids’ birthdays

This is what we are asked for most in Calabasas, and a big garden makes it easier and busier. We split the space into areas with a job each, so the party has a shape rather than a middle. A backdrop the parents will photograph, a table the children can reach, and shade over both of them by early afternoon.

A soft baby-shower dessert table

Baby showers

Showers here are usually a lunch outdoors, and the whole plan turns on where the shade falls at one o’clock. We seat people under cover and put the styling in the sun, rather than the other way round. A grazing table looks wonderful in full light and the guests will not sit in it.

An elegant milestone celebration

Milestone celebrations

Graduations, big birthdays and anniversaries, and out here they are frequently evening parties for exactly the reason above. Once the sun is off the yard a Calabasas garden is one of the easiest spaces in the county to style. Lighting becomes the main design decision, and it is money very well spent.

An intimate dinner-party tablescape

Intimate dinner parties

A long table on a patio, twelve to twenty people, and the details close enough to see. These are lovely here in spring and autumn. In summer we would rather push the start time back an hour than fight the heat with a scheme that was designed for a photograph taken in April.

We also style

  • Bridal showers
  • Engagement parties
  • Anniversary parties
  • Graduation parties
  • Gender reveals
  • Sip & sees
  • Holiday gatherings
  • Backyard celebrations

How it works

How a Calabasas celebration comes together

  1. We come and see it

Being fifteen minutes away means the site visit is easy to arrange and happens early. We look at where the shade lands at the hour of your party, how the garden divides, and where a van can get to. A visit is part of The Bubbly Experience, and on other tiers we still know these gardens well enough to plan from photographs.

  2. Then the design

Mood board and colour palette, tablescape, backdrop and balloon concepts, signage and stationery direction, and recommendations for décor and rentals, with one revision included. For a big garden the zoning plan comes with it, because where things go matters as much here as what they look like.

  3. Then the day

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop we are onsite for setup, the party and the pack down of what we installed. Francie and Ruta run the day themselves. Being local means the setup can start early without anybody having to leave home at five in the morning.

The details

What goes into a Calabasas party

Balloon installations and backdrops, welcome and event signage, dessert table styling, tablescapes, floral styling, lounge and seating layouts, custom favours and rental coordination. Setup and breakdown come with the tiers that include the day. In a big garden the lounge and seating layout is the one that turns space into a party.

That list is our work. The party itself is bought separately and billed to you by the people who supply it: décor, rentals, florals, balloons, catering, the cake, entertainment and printing. We take no cut of any of it.

  • Backdrops
  • Welcome & event signage
  • Dessert table styling
  • Tablescapes

Timing

Booking a Calabasas date

Eight to ten weeks ahead is the sweet spot, and spring Saturdays book out first. Ask anyway if your date is sooner and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it justice.

April, May, October and early November are the best months out here. July and August are perfectly possible and want hired shade, misting or an evening start time, and December evenings need heating. None of that is a reason not to celebrate, it is just a reason to decide it early rather than late.

Good questions

Planning in Calabasas

Is there a travel charge to Calabasas?

No. We do not charge travel anywhere in Los Angeles County, and Calabasas is in it. It is also one of the shortest drives we make.

How big a party can you handle in a backyard?

The Bubbly Experience base price covers a local celebration of up to about fifty guests, and we have styled a backyard shower for a hundred and twenty. Anything larger is quoted on the guest count, the scale of the installation and how long you need us onsite.

How do you stop a big garden feeling empty?

By splitting it up. Two or three areas with a job each, and the walk between them planned, will fill a lawn that one long table cannot. Balloon work goes vertical for the same reason, because height reads across a space where width disappears into it.

What do you do about the summer heat?

Plan for it first. Shade over the seating and the cake, a later start time where the occasion allows, and drinks somewhere people walk past rather than queue at. On The Bubbly Experience we source and book the shade and any misting or fans.

Do you set up and pack down?

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop we are onsite for setup, the celebration and the pack down of what we installed. The Pop Blueprint and The Spark Partnership are design and planning, so the day itself is yours.

Can we use décor we already own?

Yes. The Final Pop includes setting up décor you provide, and on any tier we will design around pieces you already have rather than making you buy them twice.
