What we do here

Celebrations in Encino

Almost everything in The Bubbly Files happened within a few miles of Encino. A wildflower first birthday in Northridge. An under-the-sea third in a Woodland Hills backyard. A racing-themed first birthday in Winnetka, a shower for a hundred and twenty in Reseda, and a welcome party in a Granada Hills garden. These are the streets we work.

Being local changes the boring parts, which are the parts that go wrong. We can walk your garden before we quote it. If something is forgotten on the morning it is a short round trip rather than a lost afternoon. And a setup that starts at seven does not mean anybody was on the freeway at five.

Encino gardens south of Ventura tend to be flat, deep and generous, often with a pool taking up the middle of the plan. A pool is a design feature and a safety question at once, and for a party with small children it changes the layout before it changes anything else.

The Valley heat is the constant here. Summer afternoons run hot enough that shade is the first line of the plan and the palette is the second. We would rather move a party an hour later than watch it move indoors at two o’clock.

What we love to celebrate

First birthdays and baby showers are most of what we do here. Graduations and milestone birthdays fill the rest of the calendar.

A styled children’s birthday party

Kids’ birthdays

First birthdays are the party we have styled most, and the Valley backyard is where we learned to do it. The guest list is the hard part rather than the theme, because one birthday brings newborns, toddlers and grandparents into the same garden. We plan zones for all of them before we plan a single balloon.

A soft baby-shower dessert table

Baby showers

Long tables on the grass, food that keeps coming round, and games that run late because nobody is in a hurry to leave. That is the Valley shower and we have built a lot of them. The design work is mostly shade, seating and a grazing table people can reach from both sides.

An elegant milestone celebration

Milestone celebrations

Graduations in June, big birthdays all year, and anniversaries that usually want an evening. Once the sun is off an Encino garden it becomes one of the most comfortable spaces in the city. So we push these later and spend the budget on lighting rather than on fighting the afternoon.

An intimate dinner-party tablescape

Intimate dinner parties

A long table on a patio for twelve to twenty, with the details close enough to see properly. Spring and autumn are made for these here. The linen, the glassware and the light are doing all the work, because there is no crowd to carry the room.

How it works

How a Encino celebration comes together

  1. We are minutes away

The site visit is the easy part when you are the next neighbourhood over. We come and look at where the shade lands, how the garden divides and where the pool sits in the plan. A visit or walkthrough is part of The Bubbly Experience. On the lighter tiers the planning meetings do that work instead.

  2. Then the design

Mood board and colour palette, theme and concept development, tablescape, backdrop and balloon concepts, signage and stationery direction, and décor and rental recommendations. One revision is included, and you finish with a design guide complete enough to build from without us if that is the tier you chose.

  3. Then the day

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop, Francie and Ruta are onsite for setup, the celebration and the pack down of what we installed. On the lighter tiers you run it, and being nearby means questions on the morning get answered quickly.

The details

What goes into an Encino party

Balloon installations and backdrops, welcome and event signage, dessert table styling, tablescapes, floral styling, lounge and seating layouts, custom favours and rental coordination. Setup and breakdown come with the tiers that include the day itself. Around a pool, the seating layout comes first and everything else arranges itself after it.

What we charge for is our work. The party is bought separately and billed to you directly by the suppliers: décor, rentals, florals, balloons, catering, the cake, entertainment and printing. We never take a cut, so there is no markup hiding inside our number.

Timing

Booking an Encino date

Eight to ten weeks ahead is the sweet spot. Being local means we can sometimes move faster than that, so ask even if your date is close, and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it justice.

April, May, October and early November are the best months in the Valley. Midsummer wants hired shade or a later start, and December evenings want heating. Indoor and covered parties are easy to get dates for all year, because everyone else is chasing the same four good months.

Good questions

Planning in Encino

Is there a travel charge in the Valley?

None at all. We do not charge travel anywhere in Los Angeles County, and Encino is about as close to home as it gets.

How quickly can you come and see the space?

Quickly. We are minutes away, and a site visit or walkthrough is part of The Bubbly Experience. On the lighter packages the planning meetings do that work instead.

Can we see work you have done nearby?

Yes, and this is the honest answer to a question most planners dodge. The Bubbly Files has the full stories, and most of them happened within a few miles of Encino. Northridge, Woodland Hills, Winnetka, Reseda and Granada Hills.

We have a pool. Does that change things?

It changes the layout more than the design. We plan the walking routes so nobody with a plate is squeezing past the water. For a party with small children we keep the play area and the food on the same side of it.

What do you do about the summer heat?

Plan for it first. Shade over the seating and the cake, a later start time where the occasion allows, and drinks placed where people pass rather than queue. On The Bubbly Experience we source and book the shade, misting or fans.

Is there a minimum?

Yes. The Pop Blueprint at $500 is the smallest way to work with us. It is design only, so you get the full creative plan and bring it to life yourself.
