What we do here

Celebrations in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a big enough word to cover very different parties. A first birthday on a flat lawn in the Valley and a milestone dinner on a hillside terrace are the same job in name only. The design changes, and so does the amount of time we build into the day before anyone arrives.

We are based in the San Fernando Valley, and most of what is in The Bubbly Files happened within a few miles of home. Reseda, Northridge, Winnetka, Woodland Hills, Granada Hills. Those are the backyards we know best, and the reason we are honest about it is that a planner who claims every neighbourhood equally is telling you nothing.

The rest of the county is a drive we make without thinking about it. What changes across the basin is not our work, it is the timing. Getting a florist from the Valley to the Westside for a nine o’clock setup is a different conversation in February than in June. We plan vendor arrival times around real traffic rather than a mapping app’s guess.

One thing worth saying plainly, because it comes up in every first call: the whole of Los Angeles County is covered without a travel charge. We also take celebrations further out across Southern California, and those get a travel quote up front.

What we love to celebrate

Kids’ birthdays and baby showers are the bulk of what we do. Graduations, engagement parties and milestone birthdays fill in the rest of the year.

A styled children’s birthday party

Kids’ birthdays

From first birthdays to the ones with a proper theme and a guest list. The theme is the easy part. The planning is the guest list, because a children’s party brings every age into one space at once. The space has to work for the grandparents as carefully as for the toddlers.

A soft baby-shower dessert table

Baby showers

Showers are half of our diary and the ones we are asked about most. Brunch or lunch, indoors or out, and almost always built around a long table people can sit at together. We have styled them from twenty guests up to a hundred and twenty, and the hundred and twenty was still made of the same small details as the twenty.

An intimate dinner-party tablescape

Intimate dinner parties

Twelve to twenty people, one table, and the details close enough to see. These want a different kind of attention. There is no crowd to carry the room, so the linen, the glassware and the light are doing all of it. We design them for the hour they happen, because a table dressed for daylight rarely reads the same at nine.

An elegant milestone celebration

Milestone celebrations

Anniversaries, graduations, big birthdays and the parties for the moments worth marking properly. These usually have the most moving parts, and they are where full-service earns its money. Somebody has to be watching the door while you are being toasted.

We also style

  • Bridal showers
  • Engagement parties
  • Anniversary parties
  • Graduation parties
  • Gender reveals
  • Sip & sees
  • Holiday gatherings
  • Backyard celebrations

How it works

How a Los Angeles celebration comes together

  1. Say hello

Tell us the occasion, the date, roughly how many people and where in the county it is happening. That last one matters more than it sounds, because it decides the vendors we recommend and the setup window we plan. We listen first and quote second, and the first conversation costs nothing.

  2. We design and plan

A mood board and a colour palette, a tablescape, concepts for the backdrop and the balloon work, signage direction and rental recommendations. On the planning tiers you also get a checklist, a preliminary budget, a floor plan and an event-day timeline. One design revision is included at every level.

  3. Pop the bubbly

On The Bubbly Experience we set the scene and run the day, onsite from the first delivery to the last box in the van. On The Final Pop we do the same for a party you planned yourself. On the two lighter tiers the day is yours, and you have a plan good enough to hand to whoever is helping.

The details

What goes into the parties we style

Balloon installations, backdrops, welcome and event signage, dessert table styling, tablescapes, floral styling, lounge and seating layouts, custom favours and rental coordination. Setup and breakdown come with the tiers that include the day. Most parties use some of these rather than all of them, and choosing which is part of the design work.

What we charge for is the planning, the design, the coordination and the styling. The party itself is bought separately and billed to you directly by the suppliers: décor, rentals, florals, balloons, catering, the cake, entertainment and printing. We never take a cut of those, so nothing is marked up behind our number.

  • Backdrops
  • Welcome & event signage
  • Dessert table styling
  • Tablescapes

Timing

Booking a date in Los Angeles

Eight to ten weeks before your date is the sweet spot. That gives us room to design properly and to book the vendors you actually want before they go. If your celebration is sooner than that, ask anyway, and we will tell you honestly whether we can do it justice.

The busiest stretches are April through June and the fortnight either side of the winter holidays. Graduation season books out first and books out early. January and February are the quietest months in the diary and the easiest dates to get, and a covered or indoor party makes them a genuinely good time to celebrate.

Thirty percent reserves your date, forty percent falls due thirty days before, and the last thirty percent seven days before. Zelle or card, both on the invoice.

Good questions

Planning in Los Angeles

Which parts of Los Angeles do you cover?

All of it. The whole of Los Angeles County, from the Valley across to the coast, with no travel charge anywhere inside it. We also take celebrations further out across Southern California, and those get a travel quote before anything is booked.

How far in advance should we book?

Eight to ten weeks before the date is the sweet spot. That leaves room to design properly and to book the vendors you want before they fill up. If your date is sooner, ask anyway.

Is there a minimum?

Yes. The Pop Blueprint at $500 is the smallest way to work with us. That one is design only: you get the full creative plan and you bring it to life yourself.

Do you do weddings?

Small ones. If the wedding is already planned and you need somebody to run the day, that is The Final Pop. It starts at $1,200 and picks up four to six weeks before the date.

What happens if we need to move the date?

You can move it once at no charge, as long as you tell us sixty or more days ahead and we are free on the new date. Everything you have paid moves with you.

Can we see the work you have done?

The Bubbly Files has the full stories, photographs and all. Most of them are Valley parties, because that is where we live and where we started, and every one of them is a real celebration rather than a concept board.
