Parties in Brentwood, designed to the space

What we do here

Celebrations in Brentwood

A lot of Brentwood parties happen in a courtyard, on a terrace or down a side garden. That is plenty to work with, as long as the design is drawn to the space you actually have. The photograph that started the idea was taken somewhere else.

Guest flow does most of the work in a small footprint. Where the food sits decides where people stand, and where people stand decides whether the room feels full or crowded. We settle that first, then put the backdrop where the photographs are genuinely going to happen rather than where it looks best empty.

Parking is the other Brentwood specific. The residential streets off San Vicente and Barrington fill up fast, and a vendor circling for twenty minutes is twenty minutes off your setup. We plan the arrival order so the van that needs the longest unload gets the kerb first.

It is a family-heavy part of the city, which shows up in what we are asked for. First birthdays and baby showers outnumber everything else here by a wide margin, and both of them work beautifully in a courtyard.

What we love to celebrate

Baby showers do well in a courtyard. So do the birthdays for the ages that do not need a lawn to run around on.

A soft baby-shower dessert table

Baby showers

A courtyard shower is one of our favourite things to style, because the walls do half the work. A balloon garland reads twice as strong against a real wall as it does against open sky, and the seating naturally makes a circle. We keep the table long and low and let the architecture carry the height.

A styled children’s birthday party

Kids’ birthdays

Under about four, children do not need a lawn, they need somewhere soft and somewhere to be watched from. A Brentwood courtyard is close to ideal for that. Older children want space to run, and if the garden cannot give it we plan an activity that holds them in one place instead. A craft table beats a small lawn every time.

An intimate dinner-party tablescape

Intimate dinner parties

Terraces are made for dinner and slightly awkward for tables, because they are usually long and narrow. One continuous setting almost always beats two rounds. We plan the width carefully, since a table that leaves less than a metre behind the chairs turns every trip to the kitchen into an apology.

An elegant milestone celebration

Milestone celebrations

Graduations land in June here and book early, because everyone in the neighbourhood is doing one in the same fortnight. Anniversaries and big birthdays are more forgiving on dates. In a smaller space these work best standing, with the food doing the job the seating plan would otherwise do.

How it works

How a Brentwood celebration comes together

  1. Measure the real space

We start Brentwood parties with dimensions, because a metre either way changes what is possible. The width of the terrace, the swing of the gate, whether the side return takes a table through assembled or in pieces. On The Bubbly Experience we come and measure. On the other tiers we ask you for a few photographs and a tape measure reading.

  2. Then the design

Mood board, colour palette, tablescape, backdrop and balloon concepts, signage direction and rental recommendations, with one revision included. Small spaces reward restraint, so a Brentwood plan usually has fewer elements than a Valley backyard plan, each of them doing more.

  3. Then the day

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop we are there for setup, the party and the pack down. In a courtyard that matters more than usual, because there is nowhere to hide a half-built installation. The build has to be finished before the first guest arrives, not nearly finished.

The details

What goes into a Brentwood party

Balloon installations, backdrops, welcome and event signage, dessert table styling, tablescapes, floral styling, the seating layout, favours and rental coordination. Setup and breakdown come with the tiers that include the day. In a courtyard the seating layout is the one that earns its keep, because everything else follows from it.

Those are our services. What the party is made of is bought separately and billed to you by the suppliers: décor, rentals, florals, balloons, catering, the cake, entertainment and printing. We take no cut, so there is no markup buried in our fee.

Timing

Booking a Brentwood date

Eight to ten weeks ahead is the sweet spot, and closer to twelve if you are looking at a Saturday in May or June. Graduation season here is genuinely busy, and the good caterers go first.

Brentwood gets a soft version of the coastal morning. The marine layer reaches this far inland often enough to matter, and it usually burns off by late morning. For a party that wants sun in the photographs, one o’clock is a safer promise than eleven.

Good questions

Planning in Brentwood

Is there a travel charge to Brentwood?

No. We do not charge travel anywhere in Los Angeles County, and Brentwood is part of the City of Los Angeles. Only celebrations past the county line get a travel quote, and it comes before anything is booked.

Our garden is small. Is that a problem?

No. Small spaces are mostly a question of order rather than size. We work out where people will stand before we place anything, then scale the balloon work and the table to the room you actually have. Some of the best parties we have styled were the tightest.

Where will the vendors park?

That is part of the plan rather than an afterthought. We stagger arrivals so the longest unload gets the closest space, and we tell every vendor the order in writing. On The Bubbly Experience we manage those arrivals on the day.

Do you set up on the day?

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop, yes. We are onsite for setup, the celebration and the pack down. The Pop Blueprint and The Spark Partnership are design and planning, so the setup stays with you.

What does the package price cover?

Our planning, design, coordination and styling. Décor, rentals, florals, balloons, catering and printing are bought separately and billed to you by the people who supply them. We never take a cut of those.

Can we use décor we already own?

Yes, and we would rather you did than buy twice. The Final Pop includes setting up décor you provide, and on any tier we will happily design around pieces you already love.
