Event planning and design in Calabasas

We plan and design private celebrations in Calabasas: birthdays, baby showers, engagement parties and family milestones at home. It is a short drive from us in the Valley, so we can see your space early and arrive early on the day.

Overview

Big backyards, planned in zones

Calabasas gardens are often generous, and a big lawn with one table on it reads as empty however well the table is dressed. So we zone it. Somewhere for the food, somewhere the adults can sit down, and somewhere the children can run themselves out.

The photo above is Mila’s first birthday in Northridge, where one backyard became three play areas. A Calabasas lot takes the same plan with more room between the zones.

Heat is the other constraint. West Valley summer afternoons get well past a hundred degrees, so we plan the shade before we plan a single colour.

The process

Planning with us in Calabasas

  1. Access and the site visit

Many Calabasas homes are in gated communities such as The Oaks and Calabasas Park Estates, where vendors need to be on the gate list. A site visit is part of The Bubbly Experience.

  2. Design and zoning

Mood board, palette, tablescape and backdrop concepts, with a zoning plan for the garden and one round of revisions.

  3. The day

On The Bubbly Experience and The Final Pop we are onsite for setup, the celebration and the pack down. Being close by means an installation can arrive already built.

The Bubbly Files

Valley parties from The Bubbly Files

None of these were in Calabasas. They are our nearest real examples, in Valley backyards a few miles east.

“Ruta and Francie were incredible to work with and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect… Thanks to them, we were able to relax and enjoy our special day knowing everything was in good hands.”

Hosting in Calabasas

Most parties here are at home. For a larger gathering, the City of Calabasas rents picnic shelters at Juan Bautista de Anza Park, Gates Canyon Park and Grape Arbor Park, bookable online up to six months ahead and no later than fourteen days before.

People also host at King Gillette Ranch, the 1928 estate in the Santa Monica Mountains, and at the 1844 Leonis Adobe in Old Town. Venues set their own rules on setup and décor, and we plan within them.

Good questions

Frequently asked questions

Is there a travel charge to Calabasas?

No. Travel is included anywhere in Los Angeles County, and Calabasas is one of the shorter drives we make.

How do you stop a big garden feeling empty?

By splitting it up. Two or three areas with a job each, and the walk between them planned, will fill a lawn that one long table cannot.

Can you work with our gate or HOA rules?

Yes. Tell us the community early and we gather vendor names and arrival times for the gate.

When is the best time of year for a party here?

April, May, October and early November. July and August work with hired shade or an evening start, and December evenings need heating.
